    About Helen Doron

Helen Doron – world leader in English as a foreign language

In 1985, linguist and educator Helen Doron revolutionized the teaching of English to children by developing a method that mimics the native language acquisition of young children. Today, Helen Doron English is an international network with branches in over 30 countries. Nearly two million children now speak English thanks to Helen Doron.

More than 30 years ago, Helen Doron had a moment of realization when she watched her young daughter learn the violin according to the Suzuki method. If Suzuki teaches the language of music, why don’t we teach the music of language,” Doron asked.

As a linguist, she had a deep understanding of the mechanisms of language. As a mother who watched her children grow up bilingual, she recognized the challenges of teaching children English as a second language.

    How it all began

It all began with a violin lesson. Helen Doron enrolled her four-year-old daughter in Suzuki Method lessons. The success of this method impressed her so deeply that she used its principles as a source of inspiration in developing her own method for Early English.

    The Language of Music

Helen Doron understood that reading and writing are very different skills from comprehension and speaking. Regardless of this, foreign language acquisition in school took place mainly through reading and writing. With Helen Doron’s groundbreaking method, children can now speak and understand English before they have even learned to read or write that language – just as naturally as in their native language.

She developed her first course for early English lessons based on the principles of positive reinforcement and repeated listening. She recorded songs, rhymes and stories and began teaching English in her neighborhood in northern Israel. The results were overwhelming. Helen Doron’s method of teaching English created a conducive environment that mimicked natural native language acquisition. The children were thrilled! The lessons were fun and strengthened the emotional, physical, creative and intellectual well-being of the young students.

Based on this initial success, Helen Doron continued to develop her teaching materials and train other teachers in her exclusive method.

    Helen Doron English Worldwide

In 1995, the Helen Doron English Method was also introduced in the German-speaking countries of Austria and Germany. Since 1998, the franchise business model has been successfully validated, leading to the creation of Helen Doron English Learning Centres across Europe. Helen Doron English has been successful in Switzerland for over 10 years. Recently, the company expanded into China, Southeast Asia and Central and South America.

Helen Doron’s passion was and is to fully exploit the learning potential of children of all ages and to provide them with the best educational offer. Helen Doron and her development team continue to pioneer learning through emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development. The Helen Doron Kindergartens are the latest innovation and a successful model of educational programming.

Nearly two million children have learned English using Helen Doron’s method, benefiting from her consistently high quality education.

From inspiration to your own company
With this in mind, Helen Doron developed a unique methodology for children from the ages of 3 months to 19 years old, which makes learning a second language as easy and natural as learning your mother tongue.

She developed action-packed lessons that are so much fun that the children don’t even notice that they are learning English. Each lesson is filled with fun activities that engage the different senses, so there’s plenty of interaction, dialogue, games, and songs.

    From local to global
Helen Doron’s vision of teaching English in a natural way, supported by her proven methodology and creative learning materials such as original songs, animation videos and learning apps, opened up a whole new world for teaching English as a foreign language.

More than three million children have already learned English with the unique Helen Doron Method. Today, Helen Doron English is an international education franchise with more than 1,000 learning centers in 38 countries, and it continues to grow.
